Andrea Davis

Board Member

Andrea Davis is a community builder and a natural leader, a  strong communicator and powerful champion for those who need to have their voices heard. She is a Nova Scotian born of Black Loyalist descent, with ancestral ties and relationships within the communities of Birchtown, Shelburne and black communities throughout Nova Scotia.  

Andrea brings to the CBCC Board Member position a solid background in effectively developing and managing high performing teams. Andrea is a recipient of the Executive Directors’ Excellence in Leadership Award for her work in Municipal Government.  Her strength is in supporting, fostering, coaching, and mentoring staff.  Andrea is well versed in management best practices. With 32 years of career experience in the municipal government sector, she leads by example to make meaningful impacts on her work environments and on the people with whom she shares these environments. Her mindset is not only one of advocacy, care and dignity, she truly exemplifies humility, accountability, integrity and trust. Andrea believes in transparency and in fostering her teams in safe, happy and inclusive workplaces – always encouraging teamwork, innovation and developing staff to reach their highest professional and personal goals. 

Andrea’s career includes several management positions in unionized environments, where she developed, implemented, and facilitated large-scale programs dedicated to supporting Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Human Rights in the workplace. She is known and recognized for her ability to always find ways to identify common identities, lived experiences and interests and for fostering inclusion and support for all. Andrea possesses experience in strategic planning and workforce development as well as extensive experience working with stakeholders at every level of government to achieve successful program outcomes and organizational goals. Andrea has also lent her extensive expertise to high level Boards and Task Forces with mandates to dismantle racism (Pickering Anti-Black Racism Task Force and SEED – Shelburne’s South End Environmental Injustice Society.

Andrea’s post-secondary education includes Investigation Sciences and Police Studies, Certification on Adjudication for Administrative Agencies, Boards and Tribunals, and a Recognition of Achievement in Excellence in Educating Adults.
